This rare perennial is found only on the eastern side of the Cascade Mountains in Washington, along rocky forest openings and down in to the sagebrush plains. Up to 18″ tall, the blue-purple flowers bloom from late spring through early summer.

Desert Globemallow is a hardy, multibranched perennial with orange-red-apricot cup-shaped flowers in the late spring. Silvery gray to green 3-lobed leaves to 3′ tall. Native to the Southwest US and perfect for challenging hot, dry full-sun settings in just about any soil type, including clay! Commonly used as an ornamental plant in “dry” gardens. Can become invasive with extra irrigation. Tolerates pruning to maintain a tidy appearance.
